Commenting on the world-class laser eye surgery services, Dr. Cameron McLintock said, “I am pleased to help patients in the Brisbane area recover their sight by offering them world-class laser eye surgery services. What makes our laser eye surgery so special is that we use highly precise and reliable laser procedures which offer a crisper and clearer vision.

“I am committed to delivering the best possible patient outcomes, which is why I am so excited to offer this service. Also, I am constantly keeping an eye on other upcoming Laser Eye Surgery innovations,” the Dr added.

Laser eye surgery is also known as Refractive Eye Surgery and it refers to eye surgery performed to correct focusing errors (refractive errors) of the eye. It is performed on those who wish to have improved vision. Refractive eye surgery can be done using two main procedures known as LASIK, (laser in-situ keratomileusis) and PRK (photorefractive keratectomy).

LASIK is a laser vision correction procedure whereby an excimer, a highly precise laser, is applied to the cornea (the clear focusing window at the front of the eye) to improve the way light is focused by the eye, resulting in improved vision. The patient can then drop their contact lenses or glasses after undergoing the procedure. It is used to treat refractive errors such as astigmatism, myopia (short-sightedness), and hyperopia (long-sightedness).

PRK also uses an excimer laser to change the shape of the cornea just like LASIK. However, in the case of PRK, the laser is applied to the surface of the cornea and, unlike LASIK, the flap is not created in the cornea.
